Music fans who had been eagerly holding their breath for a Kendrick Lamar tour in Australia finally exhaled when the legend dropped his Australian tour dates in June. After selling out in record time, today, it was announced that the Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper will be adding extra Sydney and Melbourne shows to his December tour. The best news? Incredible singer-songwriter Doechii will join the rapper for these newly added shows.
Lamar will be playing an extra show at Melbourne's AAMI Park on 4 December and Sydney's Alianz Stadium on 11 December. Vodafone mobile customers will be able to lock in tickets during a 48-hour presale kicking off at 11am on Thursday 7 August in Melbourne and 12pm in Sydney. The rest of us will have to wait for general sale, which drops at 1pm on Monday 11 August in Melbourne and 2pm in Sydney.
Kendrick's solo tour dates have been eagerly anticipated since it was announced that Lamar will be headlining Spilt Milk festival this year. There he'll be joined by Doechii, Sara Landry and Dominic Fike, with the music festival taking place in Ballarat, Perth, Canberra and the Gold Coast across December.
Lamar has firmly established himself as one of, if not the biggest name in rap over the past decade, resposnbile for some all-time great albums like To Pimp a Butterfly and Damn. His latest album, GNX, was surprise-released in November 2024 to widespread acclaim, ending up on multiple Best Albums of 2024 lists.
While GNX was a strong entry in an already great body of work, it's fair to say it wasn't the rapper's most popular release that year. That would be the single Not Like Us, an absolute belter of a diss track that spun out from Lamar's incredibly public feud with Drake.
